Tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine!
If you could only run to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Anywoo, I just survived what a few of us in First Semester Clinical Group 1,2,3 had dubbed Hell Week. Lecture, IV lab, Clinical Prep (2 hours at the facility and then about 6 hours at home), TCU Clinicals x2 days, TCU paperwork needing to be done by end of day 2, a GIANT paper being due very soon. Oh, and we have to validate on IVs on Monday. And have some more paperwork and a Knowledge Check and lecture prep due on Monday morning. LoL. And I worked. And I work all weekend.
My running has taken a flying leap off of the Witch’s Tower lately…and has taken my excellent eating habits with it. With the last month of things having been so crazy, I haven’t been able to prioritize it well :( Totes my bad.
Today, I should be working my ass of on my paper or cleaning my house or doing laundry. I decided I was going to force myself to run a half mile and see how it went. I got dressed and set the dread to 6 mph. I got to .6 miles and thought…”I feel alright…let’s kick it to 1 mile!” Got to one mile and slowed it to 5.5 mph and said I’d run until I hit 15 minutes. I got close and had a little pain in my right ankle/foot, but told myself, “NO! Kick it back up and hit 2 miles!” I bumped it up to 6 and then 7 mph and ended up with 2 miles in 20:15 at a 1% incline (10:08 pace). Then, I walked at decreasing speeds for 1.1 miles in 19:37 (17:50 pace). It helped my spirit to push myself at that speed still even if it was only for two miles. I am going to make myself stay injury free for the next 5 days so I can run that thing :)
I’m off to get ready for work. Have a super day and if you are in the Midwest…STAY WARM!!!
TL:DR - My schedule has been nuts lately, but I did run today and it lifted my spirits. And y’all are awesome :)
Having a Sunday Morning Kitchen Dance Party to Jack Johnson’s “The 3 R’s”
Me: Lilly! Show me your moves!
Me: Bean, try this one *dances*
Lilly: No, Mom…that’s not in my moves…
Nothing like getting schooled by a 3.5 year old…
Well, I ran/walked/shuffled.
I did 2 miles in 23:36…and then I cooled down with a .3 mile walk in 4:44.
According to my Garmin, I started in somebody else’s house and then ran through some houses/yards instead of on the road…no quite right, Garmin…not quite right. I mapped out my run and the outside portion was actually 1.47 miles instead of 1.45 (hey…I like that a little better).
Remember how, last time, I said I was going to take it slow coming back and didn’t end up running again? Yeah…that’s because a handful of days later I got hit with some respiratory junk that really kicked me down. In addition to that, my school/work/life schedule hasn’t helped me with allowing me time to relax so I could get better. I’m still fighting it, but I’m a lot better than I was. I ran a mile on Monday (preceeded by my kneeing my bed and making a dent…) and then I finally had some time today to give it another shot. Slowly (very slowly…) but surely…
Sometimes I really wish nobody on my tumblr knew me IRL…because sometimes you just want to vent and complain and whine without everyone you know getting all up in your business
I haven’t had any shocking foot/ankle pain the last few days. If, after me weekend of work, I am still lacking in the pain department, I AM GOING FOR A RUN, DAMNIT!!!
